BBLTranslation takes part in the Second Edition of the Cyber Security and Cyber Intelligence Conference ‘C1b3rWall 2022’

BBL Translation

The Second Edition of the Cyber Security and Cyber Intelligence Conference took place from June 21 to 23. It was organised by the Learning and Development Division of the Spanish police at the National Police Academy in Avila.

C1b3rWall was created three years ago with the aim of ensuring cyber security through commitment and collaboration between researchers, industry professionals, and the FFCCSE (the Spanish State Security Forces).

Bringing together the best research and innovation specialists to promote a culture of cyber security and to give a better service to citizens and companies

The event brought together some of the best research and innovation specialists across areas such as data privacy, digital identity, OSINT (Open Source Intelligence), and AI (Artificial Intelligence) to cyber security. More than 175 speakers and 4,000 attendees came together across the two and a half days of the conference.

Awareness and training to strengthen security in both the public and private sectors requires constant and active work.

At BBLTranslation, we believe that it’s essential for managers to be properly trained and be aware about cyber security strategies. That way, they are ready to prevent threats and attacks or, if they do occur, better able to manage them in an organised and decisive manner using advice from their team of IT experts.

Barbara Beatrice Lavitola, Managing Director at BBLTranslation, attended an interesting roundtable discussion led by security and cyber security directors from both the public and  sectors:

The discussion covered what managers need to know about cyber security, from strategies to crisis management.

Following the trail of words: Linguistics and AI in service of the state

The bar wasn’t lowered for final-day presentations at C1b3rWall, covering our own sector: linguistics, translation, and interpreting.

Cristina Aranda Gutiérrez, Doctor of Theoretical and Applied Linguistics, has highlighted the importance of words within the forensic field, among others. Language and law overlap in lots of ways. This is especially clear with linguistic evidence in legal proceedings. Forensic linguistics covers many areas such as speaker recognition, plagiarism detection, understanding legal documents, studying legal discourse, and of course the analysis of translations and interpretations. As we say here at BBLTranslation, THERE IS MORE TO A TRANSLATION THAN MEETS THE EYE.

Cyber security: the key to building confidence in our suppliers, clients, and partners

At BBLTranslation, data security is our top priority.

Clients come to us for our translation and sworn translation services, but our work begins much earlier.

Since the beginning, we’ve made sure to provide our suppliers, clients, and partners with a secure environment in which to communicate and share documents, with 90% of our work taking place online.

We are constantly working to create and improve a secure environment by investing in both technology to prevent cyber attacks and training for our partners and our employees on how to manage potential vulnerabilities before they become threats and, ultimately, risks. Risk management and incident response is an integral part of our cyber security strategy and our corporate responsibility.

Our agency, and our team of translators and interpreters which represent another key asset, are dedicated to processing confidential, restricted and classified information and we consider digital trust to be a core element of our business model.

We appreciate the organization of such outstanding events as C1b3rWall to continue working to spread knowledge about cyber security and to promote the joint efforts of all those involved from both public and private sectors. Special thanks go to the Project Coordinator Chief Inspector Casimiro Nevado and to the rest of his team.
