Today, 7 November 2024, we had the honour of participating in the 2nd edition of the Cybersecurity Forum in Barcelona organised by El Periódico. This event is crucial for digital security, data protection and the implementation of new technologies in the cyber sector. As a translation agency, it might seem at first glance that we have no direct connection to cybersecurity; however, in reality, words are more than just a bunch of letters: they are data! And in an interconnected world, the accurate and reliable translation of information is essential to ensure security and trust in every message that is transmitted.
Why is a translation agency involved with cyber security?
Translations are not just about breaking down language barriers; in the context of cyber security, words have a profound impact on the protection of information.
As a translation agency, we handle data about companies and individuals, making confidentiality paramount and something that must be upheld at all times.
Furthermore, when employing AI, as per our clients’ request, we take all necessary measures to ensure the confidentiality of information when inserting content on third-party services.
In this sense, translation becomes a matter of trust and information security.
What we learned at the forum
During the event, we had the opportunity to attend interesting lectures and roundtables where the following topics were discussed: cybersecurity strategy, common vulnerabilities and the impact of generative AI on cyberattack detection and response.
- Consolidation in cybersecurity and the integration of AI: Marcos Gómez Hidalgo, deputy director of INCIBE-CERT 3, spoke about the importance of having a solid cybersecurity strategy and how artificial intelligence (AI) can be a powerful ally in detecting threats before they materialise.
- Strategic planning as the best weapon for defence: the panel of experts, led by Martí Saballs, explored how strategic planning in cybersecurity can make a difference in the efficiency of teams. Speakers, including Manel García of SIA (Indra) y Llorenç Malo, CISO of Caixabank, stressed the importance of adopting a proactive mindset against attacks, first by raising people’s awareness and ensuring robust data protection. This attitude was supported by María Mira, Eastern Sales Manager at Fortinet.
At our agency, we specialise in translations that not only preserve the meaning of original texts, but also ensure data integrity and user confidence. Whether for corporate reports or any marketing and advertising content, our translations help maintain high levels of confidentiality and quality of information.
Conclusion
With the participation in the 2nd edition of the Cybersecurity Forum we have reaffirmed the importance of providing accurate and reliable translations, which are fundamental for the correct management of information and data protection. We are proud to continue contributing to trust in information and digital security and are confident that our translation expertise can serve as a cornerstone in the cybersecurity strategy of any company.
We are grateful to El Periódico for giving us the opportunity to learn from experts in the field to help us continue building a safer future and communicating in multiple languages without compromising the accuracy and integrity of information.
