From 16 to 19 September 2019, more than 15,000 leisure, tourism, and entertainment professionals from more than 100 countries in the entertainment and leisure industry met in Paris Expo Porte de Versailles in France.
This year IAAPA Expo Europe 2019 (formerly Euro Attractions Show) broke records once again with over 600 exhibitors in attendance. The assocaciation also chose a great location in the charming city of Paris – Expo Porte de Versailles, which is the largest exhibition park in France and a short stroll from the Eiffel Tower!
The exhibition is the largest international conference and trade show for the leisure and attractions industry in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). It is one of the biggest showcase of products and services targeted at theme parks, water parks and zoological parks. These services and products ranged from the field of security, sustainability, technology, sales, retailtainment and marketing among others. Such a conference is invaluable to BBLTranslation as the agency specialises in the leisure and entertainment industry. Year on year attending the exhibition continues to be a fruitful endeavor, giving the company valuable chance to strengthen its professional connections, discover new business opportunities and keep updated on new developments within the sector and learn from global experts, and 2019 was no exception.
A recurring theme for this edition was virtual reality (as it has been for many in the recent years). A particular highlight was attending the “How to Fit Virtual and Augmented Reality into your Business Reality” that gave a glimpse into how the technology is developing and how future attractions and services may soon look.
It was also encouraging to see how sustainability continues to be a growing consideration for the sector. This was discussed in “Embracing Sustainable Practices in the Attraction Industry” exploring how sustainability can positively impact a company with speakers coming from big industry names such as Merlin Entertainments and the Coca-Cola company.
Elsewhere, it was interesting to note the emphasis on the human side of the leisure sector. Rather, how one finds the importance of human emotion, notably family and fun, at the core of the leisure sector values. The talk “A Neuro-Scientific Approach to Happiness at Attractions” was particularly insightful into how recreational and entertainment facilities play a role in the happiness of guests.
Finally, BBLTranslation’s CEO, Barbara Beatrice Lavitola, attended “CEO Talk: Inspiring Leadership – How to Engage Your People to do Their Best” which revealed that communication is key. Upon reflecting on this Barbara added the need to “Make people feel unique. Teach them, learn from them and build great things with them”.
BBLTRANSLATION left the IAAPA Expo Europe 2019 in Paris with a wealth of knowledge and new contacts and is preparing itself for the next edition of the IAAPA Expo Europe 2020, which will take place from the 22 to the 24 September in London (UK).
