Our translation agency achieves the Sustainable Supplier Certification

BBL Translation

We are pleased to announce that our translation agency has reached an important milestone in our commitment to sustainability and corporate responsibility: we have been awarded the Sustainable Supplier Certification. This achievement is the result of successfully completing a comprehensive training programme consisting of 21 courses on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the business sector, offered by the United Nations Global Compact, together with partners ICEX and Fundación ICO. In addition, in our case, we would like to express special thanks to PortAventura Entertainment SAU as the driving force behind the training in which we participated.

Marta Valero San Paulo, Director of Institutional and Business Cooperation at ICEX Spain Export and Investment, underlined the importance of the focus on responsible supply chains. It is a long-held belief that is now a thing of the past that only large companies have to be sustainable and that these organisations are only responsible for their own actions. They are also responsible for the actions of their suppliers, distributors, contractors and subcontractors, just as SMEs have to be sustainable.

A commitment to the future

In a world where sustainability has become an imperative, our agency understands the importance of integrating the SDGs into our daily business. This certification not only validates our commitment, but also demonstrates that we are taking concrete steps to improve our environmental, social and economic impact, while we strongly believe that it does not matter the size of the company to be sustainable as we all need to move towards sustainable and inclusive growth.

Integrating the SDGs into business

One of the pillars of our training was learning how to integrate the SDGs into our business strategy. This course enabled us to identify how our activities can be aligned with the 17 SDGs, from poverty reduction to climate action. In doing so, we have developed a more holistic and strategic approach to contribute to a more sustainable and equitable world.

Business and human rights

We are acutely aware that business plays a crucial role in the promotion and protection of human rights. Over the years, we have committed ourselves to respecting and promoting human rights in all our interactions, ensuring that our practices are not only legal but also ethical, and we have adapted to new challenges in the technology field.

Health and safety in the working environment

The safety and well-being of our team is paramount to us. This course helped us to reinforce our health and safety policies and procedures, ensuring that our working environment is safe, healthy and conducive to the personal and professional development of all our employees.

Environmental aspects that impact on the company

In our sector, the environmental impact of cloud and digital consumption is immense – in fact, the pollution we generate with our emails is called digital pollution.

At all times, we analysed how our operations impact the environment and, thanks to the course, we were able to gain an even deeper understanding of this issue. We have implemented stricter waste management policies, reduced paper consumption by 98% and minimised our environmental footprint. These actions not only benefit the planet, but also improve our operational efficiency and reduce costs.

Circular economy and circular business models

The transition to a circular economy is essential for a sustainable future. We have adopted circular business models that promote the reuse of office materials and the recycling of paper and plastic.

CO emissions reduction2 and carbon footprint calculation

The fight against climate change is a priority for us, although by definition we are not among the companies that generate high CO2 emissions, especially since we have adopted the remote working mode avoiding unnecessary travel. Through the course on CO emissions reduction2 and carbon footprint calculation, we have measured our emissions and have been able to confirm that we are a carbon neutral company.

Diversity, equity and inclusion in the business environment

We firmly believe that diversity, equity and inclusion are essential to business success. Since the beginning of our business, we have developed policies and programmes that promote an inclusive work environment, where all employees, regardless of gender, race, sexual orientation or any other characteristic, feel valued and respected. We have always supported work-life balance by implementing measures that facilitate work-life balance, for example by adjusting working hours to accommodate family commitments.

Governance and anti-corruption

Integrity and transparency are core values for us. The course on governance and anti-corruption has confirmed that we have all the measures in place to strengthen our governance systems, ensuring that our operations are transparent and ethical. We are committed to fighting corruption in all its forms and to fostering a culture of integrity throughout our organisation. In practical cases, we have rejected assignments that we did not consider to be transparent or ethical.

Ongoing commitment to health and wellbeing

In addition to the above mentioned courses, we have also focused on promoting the health and well-being of our team. We believe that a healthy working environment is the basis for sustainable productivity and satisfaction. To this end, we make time for our team to be physically active, eat healthy or spend time as they choose. We recognise that wellbeing is crucial to our success in both the short and long term.

Looking to the future

Obtaining the Sustainable Supplier Certificate has been the formalisation of several measures we already had in place and the start of others that help us to improve every day. We are committed to continue improving our sustainable practices and to lead by example in our industry, which is increasingly influenced by technology. We will continue to educate ourselves and adopt best practices to ensure that our operations are responsible, ethical and sustainable. To this end, we continue to explore solutions to business challenges in sustainability through the Academy Spain and Academy UNGC training and learning platforms, as well as accelerators and industry groups that have intensive training programmes on equality, climate, HR and SDGs. HR and SDGs.

On behalf of the entire team at our translation agency, we thank our clients, staff and partners for their continued support. This achievement is a testament to our shared commitment to a more sustainable and just future, and a healthier and more conscientious present.

We are an SME, but driven by big ideas – thank you for being part of this journey with us!
