BBLTranslation’s Communication on Progress (CoP) successfully submitted

We have successfully submitted our 2024 Communication on Progress (CoP). As a result of our submission, our reporting status is Active. We are UN Global Compact business participants since 2018.

The enhanced CoP enables us to:

Measure and demonstrate progress to stakeholders and the public on the Ten Principles and the Sustainable Development Goals in a consistent and harmonized way;

Build credibility and brand value by showing their commitment to the Ten Principles, and the Sustainable Development Goals;

Receive insights, learn, and continuously improve performance by helping to identify gaps and inform goal-setting to improve sustainability performance year over year;

Compare performance against peers through access to one of the largest sources of free, public, and comparable corporate sustainability data.

The enhanced Communication on Progress (CoP) we have submitted through the CoP digital platform consists of two elements:

  • CEO Statement of Continued Support. Barbara Beatrice Lavitola, our CEO, publicly expressed BBLTranslation’s ongoing commitment to the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact at the highest level.
  • A Communication on Progress Questionnaire, reporting on corporate action and performance related to the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Among the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact, we would like to communicate, for example, how do we deal with our translation agency sustainability (Principle 6: Environment)

As a translation agency, we mainly work online and, physically, just when we deliver interpreting services. Last year, Ovo Energy claimed that if every British person sent one fewer thank you email a day, it would save 16,433 tonnes of carbon a year, equivalent to tens of thousands of flights to Europe. Sending fewer emails can help save the planet, so we are doing our best to reduce “useless” one-line messages and we try to spend a few minutes more thinking and elaborating a message to avoid sending more e-mails adding information we could have added from the beginning. Most people think of the Internet as a cloud that exists outside their computing hardware. But the reality is when you send an email – or anything else – it goes along a chain of energy-burning electronics. We think that any company concerned about their carbon footprint, can add this measure to the other ones they are taking for a sustainable present (and future).

By incorporating the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact into strategies, policies and procedures, and establishing a culture of integrity, BBLTranslation is not only upholding its basic responsibilities to people and planet, but also setting the stage for long-term success.

BBLTranslation upholds the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation (Principle 8: Labour)

We selected employees and collaborators on the basis of their ability to do the job and that there is no distinction, exclusion or preference made on other grounds.

We are aware of the diversities of language, culture and family circumstance that may exist in the workforce. We give work to people with disabilities may have particular needs that should be met, where reasonable, in order to ensure that they have the same opportunities (e.g. for training and advancement) as their peers. For this reason, at BBLTranslation, we wanted to place our trust into a member of our translation team who was dyspraxic, and recommend to other businesses not to close their doors to any kind of diversity. We have also adopted measures to help reconcile work, private and family life of one of our staff member once back from maternity leave. We firmly state that good work-life balance promotes the well-being of workers. It can also contribute to achieving major EU policy goals: stimulating employment (especially among women and older workers); promoting child and youth development; and encouraging gender equality. Flexibility in working time, remote work and time to have a proper healthy lunch were among the measures BBLTranslation adopted.

In accordance with the regulations applicable to the protection of personal data, and the new provisions contained in the General Data Protection Regulation (hereinafter GDPR), directly applicable from 25 May 2018, Bibielle Global Translations, SL informs you of the following:
i. Contact details of the Data Controller: Bibielle Global Translations, SL (hereinafter BBL), with Tax Identification No. B65336885, registered office at Muntaner 200, 1ª planta Barcelona, 08036, Spain, and contact e-mail legal@bbltranslation.eu.

ii. Purposes: Data collected through the contact e-mail address, or service quotation request form, will be incorporated into files owned by BBL with the purpose of handling, managing and responding to your request or contact. The data provided will not be used for purposes other than those for which it was collected.

iii. In addition, and on a voluntary basis, you may provide your consent (by ticking the corresponding box or registration) to us sending commercial communications, by any route and/or electronic means, and keeping you informed about the services which, being similar to the current ones, may interest you, and which BBL offers to its Clients and users under more advantageous conditions, and to carry out market or customer satisfaction surveys.

iv. Retention: The data will be retained for the time necessary to achieve the purposes for which it was collected, in order to respond to the subject of your request or contact, and while there continues to be a mutual interest. It will be deleted when it is no longer necessary for such purposes, the commercial or contractual relationship ends, unless its retention is required by law.

If you provide your consent to the sending of commercial communications, personal data will be processed actively while you have the status of User, or until you withdraw your consent.

v. Data communication: In no event will your data be transferred or communicated to a third party, unless required by law; nor will it be transferred internationally, except with the unequivocal consent of the data subject, and prior information about the possible recipients, purpose and, where appropriate, country of destination.

vi. Duty of secrecy: BBL complies strictly with the duty of secrecy and confidentiality of personal data, and for this reason has implemented technical, organisational and security measures to prevent its unauthorised alteration, loss, processing and/or access, taking account of the state of the art, the nature of the stored data and the risks to which they are exposed, all of this as established by Spanish and European legislation on the Protection of Personal Data.

vii. Rights of the data subject:

a. To exercise the rights of access, rectification, erasure and objection, limitation of treatment, data portability and not being the subject of automated individual decisions, by writing to Bibielle Global Translations, SL, Calle Muntaner 200, 1ª planta Barcelona, 08036 Spain or at legal@bbltranslation.eu indicating the subject of your request, and attaching a [copy of your] national identity card or passport.
b. To complain to the Supervisory Authority: if a user considers that their data is not being used properly, and this matter is not addressed by BBL, they may submit a complaint to the relevant data protection authority, which in Spain is the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos.

viii. If you receive commercial communications by electronic means, in accordance with the Spanish Law of Information Society and Electronic Commerce Services (LSSICE), you may withdraw your consent, unsubscribe or modify your data using the same channel, through the e-mail address legal@bbltranslation.eu, which will be specified in each communication.De conformidad con la normativa de aplicación a la protección de datos de carácter personal, y conforme a las nuevas disposiciones contenidas en el Reglamento General Europeo de Protección de Datos (en adelante RGPD), de directa aplicación el 25 de mayo de 2018, Bibielle Global Translations, SL le informa de lo siguiente:
i. Datos de contacto del Responsable del tratamiento: Bibielle Global Translations, SL (en adelante BBL), con CIF B65336885 y domicilio social en Muntaner 200, 1ª planta Barcelona, 08036 España y correo electrónico de contacto legal@bbltranslation.eu

ii. Finalidades: los datos recogidos mediante el correo electrónico de contacto, o formulario para la solicitud de presupuesto de servicios, serán incorporados a los ficheros titularidad de BBL con la finalidad de atender, tramitar y dar respuesta al objeto de su solicitud o contacto. Los datos facilitados no serán utilizados con finalidades distintas a las que motivó su recogida.

iii. Adicionalmente, y de manera voluntaria, podrá prestar su consentimiento (marcando la correspondiente casilla o registro) para el envío, por cualquier vía y/o medio electrónico, de comunicaciones comerciales y mantenerle informado, acerca de los servicios que, siendo similares a los actuales, puedan resultar e su interés, y BBL ofrezca a sus Clientes y usuarios en condiciones más ventajosas, y la realización de encuestas de mercado o satisfacción del cliente.

iv. Conservación: los datos serán conservados por el tiempo exclusivamente necesario para alcanzar los fines que motivaron su recogida, dar respuesta al objeto de su solicitud o contacto y mientras exista un interés mutuo, siendo suprimidos cuando dejen de ser necesarios a tales fines, finalice la relación comercial o contractual entablada, salvo que su conservación venga dispuesta por una obligación legal.

En el caso de prestar su consentimiento para el envío de comunicaciones comerciales, los datos personales serán tratados de forma activa mientras ostente la condición de Usuario, o no revoque su consentimiento.

v. Comunicación de datos: en ningún caso sus datos serán cedidos o comunicados a terceros, salvo obligación legal; ni se efectuará transferencias internacionales de los mismos, salvo consentimiento inequívoco del interesado, previa información de los posibles destinatarios, finalidad y, en su caso, país de destino.

vi. Deber de secreto: BBL cumple estrictamente el deber de secreto y confidencialidad de los datos de carácter personal, habiendo implementado, a estos efectos, las medidas de índole técnica, organizativa y de seguridad necesarias para evitar su alteración, pérdida, tratamiento y/o acceso no autorizado, habida cuenta del estado de la técnica, la naturaleza de los datos almacenados y los riesgos a que están expuestos, todo ello, conforme a lo establecido por la legislación española y europea de Protección de Datos de Carácter Personal.

vii. Derechos que asisten al interesado:

a. Ejercitar los derechos de acceso, rectificación, supresión y oposición, limitación del tratamiento, portabilidad de datos y no ser objeto de decisiones individualizadas automatizadas, mediante escrito dirigido a Bibielle Global Translations, SL, Calle Muntaner 200, 1ª planta Barcelona, 08036 España o a través de la dirección de correo electrónico legal@bbltranslation.eu indicando el objeto de su solicitud, y acompañando DNI o pasaporte que le identifique.
b. Reclamar ante la Autoridad de Control: si un usuario considera que no se está haciendo buen uso de sus datos, y no es atendido por BBL podrá dirigir una reclamación a la autoridad de protección de datos que corresponda, siendo la Agencia Española de Protección de Datos la indicada en nuestro País.

viii. En el supuesto de que reciba comunicaciones comerciales por medios electrónicos, de conformidad con la Ley de Servicios de la Sociedad de la Información y Comercio Electrónico (LSSICE), podrá retirar su consentimiento, darse de baja o modificar sus datos utilizando el mismo canal, a través de la dirección de correo electrónico legal@bbltranslation.eu que se designará en cada comunicación.
